Hey Dolls! Holla if you remember the Proud Family. *ears open* The Proud Family was one of the few Disney shows that seemed to tackle every issue known in the most appropriate way. It covered bullies, self esteem issues, racism, family dynamics, mean girls.. You name it the Proud family and friends went through it. Disney will never know how impacting this show was and, hopefully one day, they'll put it back in heavy rotation. If you've never seen it, let me give you the scoop on the characters. |

Lets start with Penny Proud. She's the main protagonist of the series. She's 14, smart, family oriented, and strong willed but she has an Achilles heel...peer pressure. Many of the themes of the show center around Penny trying to make the best decisions she can without loosing face and, in many cases, realizing that what people think of you is much less important than what is truly right.
Oscar Proud, Penny's dad, is an entrepreneur. His most prized creation is Proud Snacks. They're disgusting yet he's constantly coming up with new flavors and concoctions. He wants so badly to succeed in his inventions and snack ventures, you can't help but admire his perseverance. | BeBe and CeCe are the youngest of the proud family. These twins never seem to age throughout the series...strange, but are two of the funniest and cutest members of the family |
Suga Mama Proud is Penny's amazing grandmother. She's loud, has corns on her feet, and loves watching and participating in wrestling. Although she doesn't live there, she might as well. She's over all the time with her adorable and feisty dog, Puff. Puff goes through a lot but is always a trooper, whether its getting lost or being attacked by the twins. |
Dijonay Jones is Penny's best friend. The girls go through quite a bit due to Penny's stubbornness and Dijonay's selfish tendencies, but in the end they always come back to how much they love each other | Sticky Webb is Penny's other best friend. He is a hacking and technology expert. He's pretty much the only male voice in a lot of their conversation and scenarios but hey, he never seems to mind. | Zoey Howzer is Penny's white friend. Plain and simple. She's super nerdy and one of the only white kids at the school. Penny and her friends try to ease her into the jungle that is high school and end up becoming extremely close. |
