Hey peeps lets chat!
So I've been bitten by the travel bug. All I want to do is jump on a plane and travel the world with Bubbles and Butterup by my side. However, no matter how fabulous and luxurious we believe ourselves to be we are still living on that college student budget aka broke. So I decided to do what any nerd who wants to travel, but can't would do: I opened a book. It's been ages since I had the chance to actually sit back and open a book and I can't imagine how I ever allowed myself to let that much time pass by! So I had to give my babies their due and that's why for this Friday Favorites I'm bringing it nerdy style with my top three authors and favorite books by them.

First up is my girl Meg Cabot (pictured to the left). Meg and I go back to the way back. She was my go to girl for those middle school days when school was boring and boys were gross. Meg was the only one that could relate to my struggle of living in a muggle world when in fact I was truly meant to be a Disney Princess (as a child she was also obsessed with Disney Princesses as well). So it was no surprise when Meg published her sixteen book series the Princess Diaries featuring my lovely fictional sister Mia Thermopolis. However, Meg did the unthinkable, breaking every girl code imaginable; she published Mia's diaries. In this sixteen book series we get to see the ups and downs of Mia's life as she tries to catch the attention of her best friend's older brother, trying not to loss all sense of herself as she tries to contain her desire to slap her Grandmere during princess lessons and oh yeah balance her social and academic life. Even though Meg broke girl code by publishing these books I'm glad she did because Mia is awesome, which is why we are sisters. So I guess I will break girl code too just this once because Mia said I could and give you the names of these books down below that contain the diaries of Mia Thermopolis.
Because this series is so amazing Hollywood of course had to make it into a movie. Now they didn't follow anything from the book besides the main idea (but when does Hollywood ever) it was still a good two series movie.
Now if that trailer still was not enough to entice you to go to the nearest store and buy this movie, how about there is a second movie that is equally full of Disney magic.
Okay that was my last attempt to convince you to go buy this movie. Okay maybe not my last because I have to add were you listening to that background music during the trailers because I was. You should buy this movie just because of that alone. It has all your female power songs like Diana Ross' "I'm Coming Out", Kelly Clarkson's "Break Away" and Krystal Harris' "Super Girl". This movie should be in every chick flick section of every female's place of rest.

Okay moving on to my other favorite author, Cassandra Clare. (pictured to the right) Now Cassandra and I we do not go as far back as Meg and me. Cassandra and I we meet during that awkward stage of high school where everyone was annoying and nobody could understand why I preferred to stay home and read instead of partying. Anyways Cassandra did and she kept me well entertained with her books. What are these excitement filled books I write of you may ask; well, it is none other than The Mortal Instruments Series. In The Mortal Instruments series Cassandra answers all bookworms plead for a better fantasy romance story since the tragic attempt of Stephenie Meyer with the Twilight Series (I have a love hate relationship with the series). Anyways Cassandra cleaned up Stephenie's mess and delivered a real action filled fantasy romance story. So what is this amazing series about? Well, where do I began without giving away any of the twist and turns Cassandra will take you through when you read this series. I had to ask Cassandra how she would sum it up and this is how she did it on her website. The series starts off with fifteen-year old Clary Fray, who goes in search for her missing mother and in return enters an alternative New York called Downworld, filled with mysterious faeries, hard-partying warlocks, not your typical vampires, an army of werewolves, and the demons that want to destroy it all. Not only does Clary have to deal with this new reality that the world she once knew is not what it seems and oh she has angel blood in her; she is torn between her geeky best friend SImon (who you will immediately fall in love with because of that nerdy charm) and Jace (the fine as hell demon killing shadowhunter). Cassandra takes you through the hectic new life of Clary as she joins the Shadowhunters in the search for her mother and try to maintain her old and new boy toys. By now you are probably asking Blossom WHAT ARE THE NAMES OF THE BOOK? And to that I say I got you here, they are down below, so get out "your books to read" list and cross out everything else and put these at the very top.
And because me and Hollywood have this weird connection that whatever I read they want to make into a movie here is the trailer of the City of Bones that came out last year.
Now hurry and watch the whole movie because the second one, The City of Ashes, will be coming out this year!

This next author, he is amazing and he makes me emotional. If you guess Nicholas Sparks as this next author I am sorry to say but you are wrong. I am talking about the one and only John Green. This man where do I began with him. He has written two books that have shaken my very core and made me want to both hide and run from love. He creates these characters that grow to become some of your best friends and make you question are these people really fictional. Closing a book written by John makes me feel like I am saying good-bye to a close friend. I don't know how he does it and I don't know if I want to hate or love him for making me love people that I will never meet outside of the pages of his books. Darn John why must you be so good at what you do? Anyways he is an amazing writer and because of that I must share with you two of my favorite books by him.

The first book that made me love John was Looking for Alaska. Now I must admit I was introduced to this book by one of those summer reading list from school, and I looked over it. I was like I don't know who John Green is and why is he looking for Alaska, it's right next to Canada. However, just like a fabulous pair of shoes a good book will find its way back to you and that is of course what Looking for Alaska did. I ran across it during a lazy stroll through the library shelves and the rest is history. Looking for Alaska is about this boy name Miles Halter who receives the nickname Pudge from his roommate Chip aka "the colonel" when he arrives at a boarding school in Alabama for his junior year of high school. The colonel introduces Pudge to some of his friends, but of course none catches his attention like the mysterious but gorgeous Alaska. Things are going well for Pudge until his world is shaken quickly by the "Weekday Warriors" who seek revenge on him because of what the colonel did to them, supposedly. That's when things get fun. John takes this as a chance to just tear apart our little hearts and at times try to fix the damage. But nothing John and I mean NOTHING will be able to make up for what you did emotionally to me with this book.Yet I still love you and decided to read another of your books.

The second book by John that I could not put down until i reached the last page was The Fault in Our Stars. This book is not for the weak at heart unless you have an ever flowing box of tissue next to you to wipe away all the tears you are bound to shed. Not just because it is full of emotional stuff, but because you'll grow to love Hazel and Augustus. You will want them to become apart of your little circle of friends, but they can't because they live in the pages of this book. Apart of me wants to save you the pain of dealing with this reality, but I can't because the book is so darn good I must share. So what is this emotional roller coaster of a book about? Well, what every great story is about, first love. Hazel and Augustus meet at this "club" for cancer. They don't hit it off admittedly, mainly because Hazel ignores Augustus's attempts at catching her attention. Eventually, he does because what good is a book that is all about the chase and no catch? Anyways the catch is just the beginning. John takes you on a journey through the ups and downs of young love and trying to battle cancer in the middle of it.
And like I mention earlier me and Hollywood have a weird connection so here is the trailer for The Fault in Our Stars.

So that is it peeps. My nerd explosion is now over. Until next time.
